Market Sainte-Foy-La Grande
Markets are an integral part of French life. Sainte-Foy-La Grande, 10 minutes from Les Quatre Chenes, has one of the biggest and best farmers markets in the region. It was voted as “Favourite French Market in 2021,” with stalls of locally produced fruit and vegetables, jams, wine, meat, cheeses, bread, as well as arts and crafts.
Open from 08.00-13.00 April to September and 08.30-12.30 October to March every Saturday and night markets throughout July and August on Thursday evenings.
Hot air balloon
The Dordogne Valley is a perfect spot to explore French culture and history. It is known for its numerous Chateaux “Land of 1001Castles”, Many of the Chateaux are open to the public and also offer wine tasting. The Dordogne area is also home to several ‘Bastide’ villages, many with stunning views of the countryside.
Why not take a trip in a hot air balloon at sunset or sunrise to experience the full beauty of the Dordogne River.
Bordeaux
Bordeaux is the capital of the Nouvelle Aquitaine region, only 1 hour away by train. Famous for its 18th and 19th century architecture and museums, it is also known worldwide for its vineyards,wines and restaurants.
Vineyards
Les Quatre Chenes is situated perfectly for both Bergerac and Bordeaux wines. Why not visit one of the many vineyards. St Emilion, 40minutes’ drive or 20 minutes by train, has some of the most famous wines inFrance and is the first wine region to achieve UNESCO world heritage status. Monbazillacis 25 minutes drive, famous for its desert wine and Chateau. Montravel wines are on your door step, or simply discover your own wine adventure in one of the many quaint vineyardsthat you pass on your travels.
Golf
With over a dozen golf courses within easy reach of Les Quatre Chenes, you are spoilt for choice with both 18 and 19 hole courses. Options available include St Meard, St Emilion, Marmande, Les Merles and Vigiers (with its onsite Michelin star restaurant and spa).
Water sports
Les Quatre Chenes, being less than 2 kilometres from theDordogne , you can take full advantage of nature. Why not take a slow paddle down the meandering river. With different start points available, you can choose your finish location and take advantage of having lunch in one of the many riverside restaurants to watch the world go by.
